I was a rather prolific child, constantly writing stories (which I forced my family to read), and plays (which I forced my cousins to perform), and journal entries (which I did not share with anyone for a very long time).
I began keeping a journal at age nine on January 29, 1993, and I have consistently kept one ever since. I've found writing my thoughts and experiences to be incredibly therapeutic, as well as an awful lot of fun to look back on years later.
Sharing some of the entries with my hubby has been a hoot, and through that, I got the idea to start this blog. I shall do my best to transcribe selections of my more entertaining entries in their original spelling and grammar, although I may have to disable the autocorrect tool.
Here commences my first selections, chosen for their notes of apple and hickory. ; )

Two days ago it was Monday and Piano and today it's Wednesday and Gymnastics. On Friday we're leaving to Corpus Christi! We're staying to Fri-Mon. Adam doesn't have school on Mon but Holly and Bonnie do, so we have to leav early in the mornig on Mon...I can't wait till Gym today! I just hope Jessica isn't ther! Well bye now!
And here is a picture I drew of myself balancing beautifully on the gymnastics beam.
For the record, I have no memory of Jessica, who was apparently my gymnastics class nemesis, and I am a bit embarrassed by how cheerfully I wished away her existence. But there it is: the honesty of a third grader and a reminder of the fact that even if you keep a journal regularly, you will still forget some details.
Which is for the best. Why remember details about nemeses?
Also, I did not know nemeses was the plural form of nemesis until I looked it up just now. A little vocab lesson to conclude my inaugural blog entry.
