Here continues the selected journal entries of Lee-the-3rd-Grader, in which I happily discover to whom I am writing and throw misspellings around like "confety."

Carl and Allie have to leav tomorrow! Boo-Hoo!!! Well tonight we had dinner at Grandma's and Grandpa's house. (that's where Carl & Allie are staying!) We had barbegu. (By the way, the Rathers live in Virginya and I live in New Branfels, TX!)
Have I ever told you? I'm nine years old. Holly and Bonnie, (you know them, my other cousins) they and Rick and Marry (their Mom and Dad) are going to easter camp at T Bar M witch is in New Braunfels and T Bar M is a funny place wher you can go to camp...So on their way to T Bar M they stopped here for lunch! It was fun!

A very family-centric series of entries, and after looking them over, I just gotta say...
I am so grateful to have had (and still have!) such a warm and loving family in which I could first experience things like tooth loss, the laying of grass at a newly-built home, puppet shows, Easter, and eating BBQ.
Excuse me, I meant barbegu.
Do you ever write anything mean in your journal? Secrets... that's what we all want to hear:)
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed at the foresight you had as a 9/10 year old to record details so you could remember them now that you are OLD. :)
ReplyDeleteLee, I love your blog so much. Every time I read it, it makes me smile (and reminds me of the time, about 5 years ago, that we found my sister's journal and proceeded to have a dramatic reading of it whilst sitting on her bedroom floor).
ReplyDeleteLaurel - Haha; there's nothing too juicy in my nine-year-old brain, but I do have a hilarious upcoming "angry entry" that I'm excited to share. :)
ReplyDeleteHolly - Hilarious! I must've had a hunch I would need help remembering things as an old 28ster.
Mary - Thank you so much!! Nothing is better than dramatic readings of old journals! :)
